TCHCC is dedicated to provide services that enhance quality of life for people with developmental, physical and mental health needs.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's, Wisconsin chose to develop a series of county hospitals and two state hospitals. In 1898, Trempealeau County officials made a decision to build a county asylum and start a farm to provide service to mentally ill, developmentally disabled, and alcohol and drug dependent persons. This was the beginning of what is today the Trempealeau County Health Care Center.
Time has allowed us to help thousands of people, to answer community and state needs, to be a haven for persons with serious mental illness, developmental disability, or behavior problems. We have answered the call to develop new, innovative programs and better treatment, both inpatient and community-based. We strive to improve and look to a future of continued effective services.
Our programs, environment and staff expertise help enhance the positive self-image of consumers, and provide empowerment, respect and dignity. An interdisciplinary team is used to deliver comprehensive, coordinated psychosocial rehabilitation that enables consumers to attain optimum functioning in all facets of life.
TCHCC is guided in it's operations by a five member Board of Trustees and employs about 300 people. Each department within the organization contributes to the high level of specialized care offered those staying in one of TCHCC's program areas. Our goal, no matter the setting is maximizing the level of functioning and wellness of the consumers we are entrusted with by providing individualized services.
